Follow along with Rich Walter, MIM’s curator for United States / Canada and Europe, on a virtual highlights tour of MIM's Ireland Exhibit. Rich shares the stories behind exciting new MIM acquisitions on display, which represent some of Irish music’s most cherished instruments—the fiddle, pipes, and banjo. See a 1760s fiddle from one of the country’s greatest violin makers, Thomas Perry, and a set of 20th century uilleann (“elbow”) pipes from renowned maker Denis Crowley. Also featured is a custom-built tenor banjo from contemporary maker Emerald Banjos, played by musician Noel Bermingham.
