Researchers have suspected for decades that intergalactic travelers may occasionally visit our solar system. A large number of these intergalactic visitors have roamed the stars for billions of years. The skies are being scanned every night by hundreds of specialized instruments, from a snow-covered telescope at the South Pole to the sun-baked Atacama Large Millimeter Array (Alma) in the Chilean Andes, but no such phenomenon has yet been discovered.
